This was a really informative video. I personally have never seen diamonds in a pristine lab setting. Thank you

Impressive 😮❤
Thank you that was very interesting, and WOW
You're welcome. We're glad we were able to be of assistance!
I can't believe this information is free! Thanks for all this information, i also frlt the crushed ice "leaks" light - ill come back in a few months and let you know what i decided 🙏
We're glad that you're able to put our videos to good use and we wish you the best of luck with your purchase! If you end up hitting roadblock and need personal assistance at any point in the future, feel free to keep us in mind as we should be able to beat anyone's prices when matching apples to apples on diamonds!
Thank you so much 🙏🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

I have a ring of pave diamonds. I thought one was fake when I first saw it under a violet light.
People call it hazy but to me it’s glowing
M color vs2 with 18k yellow gold studs. Very lovely for my mom who loves golden stuff.
you posted this vid 15 years ago. quality video showing the differences. i was curious as im buying a pendant with H&A cut and this helped explain perfectly. thank you
You're welcome. We're glad our videos are still being put to good use!
Please, are medium diamonds not real diamonds? I did not understand what you mean in this video. Thank you
Diamonds with medium fluorescence are indeed real diamonds. The purpose of this video was to compare a diamond with no fluorescence alongside one that has medium fluorescence. By doing this, the audience can analyze the visual differences (or lack thereof) for themselves. Compared to us verbally describing what we see (which can sometimes be swayed by personal opinion), we prefer the method of showing the customers the comparison and letting their own eyes make the determination since beauty is often in the eye of the beholder.
Thank you for this clarification. May God protect you and give you health
Thanks, same to you : )
@@DiamondInfoMan No gratitude is required. This is what my religion taught me
Hey, I do have a rough pink diamond, any interested buyers.
What's the minimum carat weight required for an asscher cut to look good
Good question. It really comes down to personal preference, but if I'm going asscher, I like to clearly see the step cuts in it. Once we go below 3/4's of a carat and given my vision, I have a harder time noticing them. So, I'd personally be looking for options that are at least 3/4's of a carat and if I could go even larger, the better in my opinion.
GOOD INFORMATION SIR 👍
Thanks. We're glad the video was helpful!
Setting is awful
Lol, indeed. But that's just a pincer and not a real setting that we'd offer.
A 5 carat round would look much bigger than asscher. Guess that's why people prefer rounds and ovals
Yes, most round diamonds will face up larger than asschers. However oval diamonds tend to look larger as well due to their length. Therefore, I believe the primary reasons why round diamonds outsell the ovals is due to personal shape preference and enhanced brilliance.
5 carat. Yikes. Cant imagine affording it. Such beautiful treasure
Yea, they definitely sell for a high price point. So high that we've had many customers get these larger size diamonds in lab grown in an effort to significantly reduce the cost.
Just wow… If I want a round brilliant cut with a culet, is a European cut the only option?
That's a good question. Although rare these days, there are round brilliants that come with culets. If the available one's are not the exact specs you're looking for, we should be able to find one without a culet and cut a culet ourselves.
Wow that's so beautiful. Never saw one before
Agreed!
Would a marquise depth of 65% be too deep??
Good question.. A 65% depth in a marquise is deeper than average, but sometimes that could still work depending on other variables. For example, if the diamond's an optical beauty, I would recommend focusing instead on the length & width measurements. If they are on par or very close to other marquise diamonds of similar weight and ratios, it seems like a winner. However, if the depth makes the diamond face up much smaller than average, I'd double check to make sure the price has been adjusted (lowered) accordingly.
@@DiamondInfoMan Thank you for replying! I keep seeing ideal depths mentioned, but when i went on James Allan's site and typed the ideal depth in, it didn't correlate strongly with a better looking diamond (for marquise in my opinion)
You're welcome. If you have further questions, feel free to ask. Also, if you'd like assistance in finding your perfect diamond, feel free to contact sales@goodoldgold.com . It's very hard to purchase a fancy shape diamond online (sight unseen). But here at Good Old Gold, we can make you high-definition video comparisons of the diamonds in different lighting/viewing environments. We usually have access to the same exact diamonds found on other websites and we usually are able to save the customer significant $$ in doing so..

is EGS a legitimate website to check diamonds? i bought a heat treated diamond that is on this website but my jewler told me it wasnt real
That's a good question. I don't believe that we've had past experience with that company, but if they certified it as we real diamond and it's not a real diamond, I'd assuming that you 'd have a strong case to get a refund from where you purchased it from. You might want to get a 2nd opinion as well.
This is the first time I’ve seen the W color diamond and it is absolutely beautiful almost looks like champagne diamond.
We agree in that it's definitely a beautiful diamond! In the past (and although rare), I've seen some of these lower colored diamonds that have a brownish hue to them, and, in my opinion, those look even more like the champagne diamonds.
Background noise is very distracting can barely hear you, but beautiful diamond I wonder how much is it worth?
Agreed, lol. We've received similar feedback in the past and have eliminated that distraction in our more recent videos. We appreciate the constructive feedback!
where is the location
We're located in Massapequa Park, Long Island, New York
These are just too dark and saturated, a pink natural diamond is much much lighter in color than these, very pretty but i would love so see mucg lighter stones
The diamonds in the video do indeed have a strong pink saturation to them. Similar to earth grown diamonds however, lab grown come in all colors and they offer a variety of shades within those colors. Our video showcased the fancy intense and fancy vivid pink diamonds, but if a customer is searching for the lighter shaded options, we should be able to get those too.
Thank you, 12 years ago posted but still the most informative so long later
You're welcome. We're glad the videos are still being put to good use!
What about the radiant crushed ice cut that ends up looking like fine grade glitter (like as fine as in eye shadow) in a radiant cut? This seems to be a popular trend thanks to the Kardashians.
You are correct. Many of our customers love the elongated shape and sparkle that the radiant shape offers. We're currently selling about 15 Radiants to 1 Princess (thanks to the Kardashians, lol). There have also been times where I've had customers come in for Emeralds and I'll show them a Radiant as well (since they are the same shape). Over half have passed over the Emerald and went for the Radiant due to that glitter you're referring to. So, it's really on a customer-to-customer basis as beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I like the slushy cut diamond. 😊
Very interesting comparison haven’t seen anyone else talking about this thank you
You're welcome. We're glad you enjoyed the video!
They look grey, D E or F for me.
Yes, they definitely do look grey. That's an older video and the cameras back then aren't as good compared to the cameras these days. But for reference and in person, it's more common that the diamonds will look more yellow than grey. Although we have indeed come across grey one's every so often.
Thank you for this helpful video! Deciding between an E and F
You're welcome. Also, if you're buying a diamond online, keep in mind that we should be able to beat anyone's prices and often have access to the same exact diamond you see elsewhere. A quick email to sales@goodoldgold along with the link of the diamond you're viewing often saves customers hundreds of dollars on that same exact diamond!
Gorgeous yellow hue M color diamond will look stunning in yellow gold ! thanks for the video 👍
My pleasure 😊
I don’t like the first one it looks like a fan I’m a sucker for the original cushion cut and I do enjoy a crushed ice or a hybrid cushion if it’s cut correctly and not all sporadic
Thanks. We appreciate your feedback!
What I learned from this video is that when seeing the side by side comparison of the diamonds without fluorescence and with fluorescence is that fluorescence makes the diamond look more milky it reduces the transparency even in natural daylight. That helps me decide that I should go with the diamond with either faint or no fluorescence because I want my diamond to be more transparent and sparkly. Thanks for the video it was helpful. 👍
You're welcome. We glad the video was helpful! If you're in the market for an online diamond, you're welcome to reach out to sales@goodoldgold.com if you would like assistance. Often, customers will find a diamond on another website, and then reach out to us because we should be able to beat any listed price out there and there's a good chance, we have access to that same exact diamond. In the past, so many customers have saved hundreds of dollars on their purchase, just by sending us over a quick 2-minute email.
@@DiamondInfoMan 👍
Beautiful
We totally agree! : )
This is actually the first video I came across that does a thorough comparison for emerald cut diamonds. Thank you so much!
You're welcome. We're glad you enjoyed the video!
You’re finally making shorts! Yay!!!
Yes, we're late to the party, but better late than never! : )
I have one diamond
Great❤
I have a princess cut and man I regretted it so much. I got a “G” grade VVSI-1 with GIA paperwork and all this but I hate it. It seems to get dirty all the time, it overall seems to have a haze. It’s a very bright diamond but how can I be blunt here…….. it just doesn’t sparkle the way one would think a diamond should. I’ve have a lot of diaminds, and many in a micro pave setting can light up your car when driving down the highway lol when it gets some sun, but my princess cut let’s just say wasn’t blinding anyone. If you’re buying a princess you need to go big, to achieve that wow factor. My 0.75 wasn’t big enough.
Yes, when compared to some other shapes such as round diamonds, princess diamonds usually don't have the strongest light return levels. Every once in a while, I'll come across a princess diamond that holds its own (like a Solasfera Princess for example), but it's far and few in-between. It's probably one of the reasons why we've seen a decrease in princess diamonds sales throughout the last decade or so.
excellent explanation, question do yellow fancy diamonds have fluorescence?
Good Question.. Yes, some fancy colored diamonds can have fluorescence.
